Anybody make your own plug wires?

I'm looking for advice, experiences, where you got the components, etc.

I used to years ago. I opt for ready-made any more. Auto parts houses are the source for components.

I've thought of doing it but its simply too easy to go to the parts store and get a ready made set.

I did mine because there's no performance wires for a 300 like I wanted. I dont use the old silicon set, I use spiral core so there's a real wire making contact. I just got a blue set from Summit, and it even came with a cheapie crimper. I also made a Motorsport set for my nephew's 300. The one in the green 72 on youtube.

I bought some 9mm wire, but am having trouble tracking down suitable components without paying a fortune and having a bunch of leftover parts. I was hoping someone might know of somewhere other than the big box parts stores for resources.

No, it's a 6.6 ford/new holland from an f600. I had plans on cramming it in my 67, but hard to tell anymore. It was going to be the Cummins killer/sport truck. That was my vision.
They were originally designed for tractors in the 60s, and hasn't changed much since.

Had to do my own for the 49 coronet because the boots wont fit through the factory chase on the head. NAPA had them in stock (blue wires though) and I paid about 20 bucks for the 6 cyl set. Worked fine.

Ok. It would be an interesting swap if you do it.

Taylor has wire sets made for the 300. I have the Spiro Pros on mine. By the time you are done gathering individual components you may be spending as much or more than one of those sets.
