I have been experiencing some intermittent noise emanating from the driver's side dash closest to the center of the car. I have tried turning off the climate control system and radio but the noise persists. It occurs while driving and when stopped. It sounds like clicking with about a half second frequency.
I have not yet taken it in due to its intermittent behavior.
The noise began last year when the vehicle had about 72,000 miles. It now has 77,000.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
James Dillis
Does the noise happen only when the car is in motion? Engine on?
Only with engine on, with the truck in motion and at idle.
I've tried every combination of the ac/heat fan controls, radio, CD, on/off ect.
It's a faint tapping/ticking near the center of the dash, has a somewhat random pattern of 2 sec taps.
Strange! Possibly a vent door that can't close? I would play with the vent settings-floor-dash, etc and see if you can make it worse/better so you could explain it to the shop.
