ZF-5 Rebuild Kit

ZF-5 Rebuild Kit
Found this site that sells every part imaginable for the ZF5, including whole rebuild kits. I haven't dealt with them but unless anyone has anything bad to say I'll most likely be ordering their rebuild kit when it comes time.

It looks like a decent kit, but I'm not sure it would save you any money over a reman. I mean the bearing N seal kit with synchros is $360. At the very least you would also need an input shaft at $200+, plus another $259 for the assembly jig. You're already over $800 and that's assuming you wouldn't need any more hard parts.
I wouldn't tell you not to do it, but it's my understanding that these ZF's are a real bear to rebuild, and worse than that if you don't have the jig.
Considering your time you might be money ahead to find a decent reman.
That said, and to answer your original question... I have heard nothing bad about that company. I've seen their parts featured in an off road mag once or twice.

How much do remans run? I work at oreilly auto (which obviously isn't where to get one) and my employee price was 2500 bucks! So if its anywhere close to that then it'll be a rebuild lol. But if i can get a good remanned zf5 for a grand or less....
Thats why i love FTE, just when I've got it figured out someone points out the facts I've overlooked lol. Thanks cookie

I've got two 42's and two 47's and plan on rebuilding on of each. That jig would be worth it to me. The kits seem to be priced good too. I've never actually rebuilt a ZF but I've torn some down. With the right tools, shouldn't be too bad to rebuild. Don't get me wrong, it's probably not a piece of cake, but I think it would be worth it to me to try a rebuild myself. My son-in-law also has a ZF in his truck, with a syncro going bad.
Pretty good info, Thanks!
