53 f100 radiator hose metal part

More stock questions as I have some confusion. I got a top radiator hose kit but from Macs and I am having issues with the tubes not being long enough from the radiator to the bend and its like 3" short. I realize it says cars do they make a truck version? Could I use just longer rubber hose? What was the stock setup on the 53?

Here is what is on there now is this factory or a jimmy rig?

That's rigged. Bad news, there are no reproductions. Here was a thread where I asked the same question, and an answer: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...hose-pipe.html

I tried an exhaust shop, but they could only go down to a 1 1/2" pipe. The flathead radiator pipe is a 1 1/4"

The stock pipe looks like this:

I'm beginning to think you and I are the only ones working on '53 F-100s with flatheads still in them. What happened to the rest, did they all get dark-sided?

I figured they where rigged. I thought about it and decided to keep the stainless tube and just get longer rubber hose for the short area. Here is a pic of where it sits now

Do they repop the correct length metal hose part in stainless or even straight steel?

I think with the flathead really loosing steam by 53 and it having some 1 year only things it got pushed to the side. It was easy to drop in a y block or fe that made more power and I could see it being more practical in the day for towing to have a y block or fe.

I love my flathead and never want to swap it. I think it makes the truck cooler. Dropiing in a fe or 302 is easy but what is cool about that? Glad your staying with a flathead. I also commented on your t5 thread as I am planning on the same thing.

If you want flashy, get some copper tubing.

Are the metal pipes the same from 48-53? If so, someone here out to have some extras.

I think that the copper pipe would look cool all polished up. Electrical pipe comes in 1 1/4", not sure how long it would last but can be bent to any angle needed.

No offense but I think copper would look a little cheesy. Also I would be worried with using copper for longevity.

Nobody makes them. The NOS pipes in NumberDummy's post are the only "new" ones I've seen.
**Correction: If somebody makes them, I haven't found them yet.**

I've had my truck, with it's original flathead, since I was 15. I don't see a reason to change it now. If it ever grenades, I don't know. But I would probably stick with a flattie.

Nope, I believe the '53 pipes are longer. The 48-52's could be lengthened but a longer rubber upper hose would be far easier.

Chappy, I got chrome ones for my 53 from a place called Hot Rod and Custom Supply a few years ago. Their catalog said they fit 49-53 trucks. When I got them they were a little too long. But I shortened them with a pipe cutter and they fit pretty good. Their phone number is 239 574 7744

No. They are unique to the 1953 flathead, F100-F600

I never thought of conduit. That's a good idea. I was going to visit a place that makes mud-buggies this afternoon. The thicker walled pipe they use makes nice, smooth bends, but the smaller I.D. means less flow potential.

I may stop by an industrial electrical contractor while I'm out. With the anti-corrosive properties of modern coolant, I don't think longevity would be a problem.

HRCS moved to Michigan, and last I heard, he only builds now, he's no longer into retail sales.
Found this on the HAMB: hot rod and custom supply? - THE H.A.M.B.

Edit: Called the number, it's an air conditioner repair company now.

I have to agree. When I installed my Offy heads and intake, I also polished the top of the radiator, and painted most of the engine accessories to try to match it. It seemed like a good idea when I was 17, but looking back at it:

For now I am going to keep the stainless shorter pipes and just bought longer top rubber hoses to make up the difference. They only needed to be a foot so just like the bottom length nothing major I will post up a pic when its installed tonight or tomorrow. I would like to find an original set to make a copy in stainless though.
