Fog Light/Aux Light Help
I need some help, I got a free set of 6" lights someone gave me with no wiring harness instructions nothing, just the lights.
I wired it up to my old harness that I had smaller lights on which took a 15amp fuse. These lights are 50w a piece and while driving at night with my main lights on and if I turn these on after about 5 min my dash lights go out and blows the 4amp fuse.
Is this happening cause the fuse I have for the fog lights is not big enough?
The harness is not wired into anything else its all on its own with its own switch.

Your wiring and fuse are not heavy enough.
2 50 watt bulbs means your drawing 100w of energy through the system. 100w / 12v = 8.333 amps of current requried. So you need a 10 amp fuse to support the lights with proper wiring.
If your wiring is sized for a 4 amp fuse its probably to small.
I would start from scratch and wire up the system with a remote relay.

Ok, first off you def don't wanna wire anything into the stock headlight switch. the switch barely supports what the factory insatlled. You can upgrade to a sweet RJM harness which takes teh load off the switch and adds relays which will actually give your factory headlights a full 12 volts thus making them brighter.
RJM Injection Tech — Headlight Harness
As BurnstoughFord Mentioned you should start from scratch on your aux lights wiring. Make sure the switch you use is also good for the requirements of the lights (most are), you may also look into wiring up a relay from the switch for the lights to make them more reliable and last longer.

Alright so I tore out the old harness I had in there before I installed the new lights and it was all 14guage wire including the grounds..
I have alot of 12guage gauge and 10 gauge wire I think I'm going to use.
And yeah I didn't wire anything into the factory lights/switch, I figured it would be easier to put it on its own switch and harness.
