Old Drag Slot Cars

Old Drag Slot Cars
Don't know if anyone remembers, but a few days before the end of March I asked RC if he had any old 49ish Ford Coupes. This is why:
It's actually a sedan body, which I didn't remember. Probably been almost ten years since I got it out and looked at it. It was built out of a 1/24th scale Ertl model and ran on a 1/24th scale 1/4 mile drag strip. Yes, it's an electric slot car. The finish isn't was was originally planned. Car was supposed to be a light blue metallic, but after the 2nd coat of 'primer' fish eyed, my father-in-law and I decided to leave it as-is. We then added the chrome bits and made a rat-rod slot car before rat-rods were all the rage. This was in '95-'96 time frame.
Then, after winning several bracket races driving slow(I think it averaged around 1.4 or 1.8 second e.t.'s, can't remember) we decided to build something about 2.8 seconds. This was the effort:
This model was much easier as it was already this color and the chrome was already attached. It was a snap-fit kit and we just fit it to a chassis with a really slow old motor. We only ran it a couple times, and it was over 3 seconds, which the drag strip classified as a DNF. We never had a chance to modify it due the racetrack owner getting too screwed up on dope and closing the track. Father-in-law has been gone 11 years now, and I'm not sure why I wanted to pull these out and touch them, but I'm glad I did.

Are you on any model car forums by chance? I swear I have seen you Christine car on one unless someone else built one.
Also do you know their is a slot car track in Raytown just north of 63rd Street on Blue Ridge Blvd?
Raytown International Raceway- 1/24th scale slot car racing in Kansas City!

No, I'm not on any model car forums. All we did to the "Christine" car is mount it on the chassis. No paint, gluing, or any of that nonsense. It was a skill level 1 model.
And yes, I did just find that racetrack on the web. May have to dig the cars back out and make a road trip down there to check it out.
