I am searching for stock steel 16.5 x 9.75 steel wheels for my project truck. I have found only 1 so far in my searches of the So Cal junkyards. If anyone has 1, 2, 3 or a set that they would sell, I am ready to buy.

 

Did you ever find any? I am also looking for 1.

Yes, I did find them. I found a couple in the junkyards locally and finally gave up after searching and searching for more there. I bought two from a place up in Washington state. $150 each.

I have one F250 4X4 that has no provisions for a dog dish wheel cover. I bought that one by mistake. I will sell it if you are interested.

Wow they look great! I just found the guy in Washington yesterday. I'm looking for one to make my 5th(spare tire/wheel) So the one you have it's the correct size, the center bore and offset is correct just nothing for the cap to grab onto? How much do you want for it? Where are you located and can you post a pic of it?

 

I've got a set of 4 16.5 inch stock wheels from a 1969 F-250 that I'm trying to get rid of, but I'm not sure about the width. PM me if you are interested.

16.5" x 9.75" ~ These tubeless tire 16" wheels (D3TZ-1007-A replaced C7TZ-1015-C) were only installed on 1967/79 F350 Camper Specials. Most people get rid of them as tires are hard to find.

 

How much do you want for that one wheel?

 

1967/79 F250 Camper Special wheel is 16.5" x 6.75" .. uses a 8.75" x 16.5" tire.

An F250 wheel with no provison for a hubcap was used on 1959/66 F250 4WD's.

Disc brakes were not available for 4WD's until 1976. Will this F250 4WD wheel clear the disc brake calipers? I dunno.

Didn't say any such thing, said he bought an F250 4WD wheel by mistake that has no provision for a hubcap, which would be a 1959/66 4WD front wheel only.

Hub caps w/a hole in the center for the 4WD's hub to poke thru were not available until 1967.

Hub cap: Covers the center section of the wheel. Wheel cover: Covers the entire wheel.

1953/66 F350's have 6 lug wheels on a 7.25" bolt circle. 1967/98 F350's have 8 lug wheels on a 6.50" bolt circle.

F350 Camper Special introduced in 1967, came with 16.5 x 9.75 wheels and dog dish hubcaps.

16" 2WD & 4WD wheel covers were not available for F250/350's until 1979. No wheel covers were available for F250 2WD's & F350's until 1972 and these trucks used 15" wheel covers.

D2TZ-1210-A 16" trim rings were snapped onto the wheels first, then 1971/72 LTD 15" wheel covers (D2AZ-1130-J) were snapped onto the trim rings.

 

I dug this thread up........sure like how these are painted those hubcaps. Are those caps factory for a 73-79?

I still have the wheel. It is a 16.5 x 9.75, no provision for hub cap. I can post pix if needed next weekend (I need to dig it out of my storage). Send me an email and we can go from there.

Regarding the hub caps, the 77 brochure still shows them in the photos, however Number Dummy has stated they were not used at that point. I figure since the brochure shows them, and I liked them, I would use them.

I had the wheels powder coated and then pinstriped. These are probably the most expensive set of steel truck wheels anybody was foolish enough to spend money on. I did it for the look, and everyone, including my Auto Tech students give nothing but positive comments on them. It is easy to find new wheels, but to get these and make em work/look good, took effort. Plus, since so few go this route, mine stand out from the over done aluminum aftermarket wheels out there now.

I apologize for not responding on the wheel being available. I do not check in here too often and I missed the post.

I never said any such thing.
TYPE 4 in pic .. But there are two different versions and two different sizes.

Painted argent with black painted accents & stainless steel with black painted accents.

Some 1967/69 F250/350 hubcaps are innies, some are outies. 1970/77 F250/250, 1969/74 E300, 1975/77 E250/350's are outies.

Innie: So called because the hubcap snaps onto tabs located on the inside of the wheels center section.

Outie: So called because the hubcaps snaps onto tabs located on the outside of the wheels center section.

Innie hubcap will not fit an outie wheel and vice versa.

From question about dog dish hubcaps: "I don't give a rats behind what some aftermarket parts suppliers say, the '73/79 Ford truck parts catalog says different.

I sold dozens of these hubcaps when the trucks were new to the market, so I don't need a parts catalog to know the difference.

The aftermarket parts suppliers weren't even in business back then.

The second I looked at the High Boy pic, I knew exactly what the part number of the hubcaps was, what they were used on.

C8UZ1130B was not used after 1976. There is no front hubcap listed for 4WD's that matches it.

There's also C8UZ1130A, same hubcap, except it's painted argent.

I asked jermafenser if he could post the pictures of the hubcaps from the catalog because I believe you are confusing the 1977/79 hubcaps with the 1968/76 hubcaps.

The 1977/79 hubcaps are much more plentiful, because they were used thru 1996.

There are DOZENS still available at dealers, which means the aftermarket parts suppliers may be selling GENUINE FORD originals.

The problem I've seen ever since I joined FTE is, most of y'all have no Ford parts catalogs, no sales brochures, so it's a guessing game on what fits what.

I was a Ford partsman for 35 years, have owned over 80 Ford vehicles and have been in the car hobby since 1956, so I know what's correct...and what ain't.

The 1973/79 FORD LIGHT TRUCK PARTS CATALOG is available on a CD from hipoparts.com for around 25 bucks.
