5.4 vs 4.6 2009 or 2010 F150 SUper Crew

Hello, new to Ford Truck Enthusiasts, but not to Ford Trucks. Best Trucks ever built and they didn't take any Government bail out money! I'm looking at buying a 2009 or 2010 F150 Super Crew Cab. I have a sad story! I had a 2001 F150 Super Crew Cab that was 1500 miles from 300k. It had a 5.4 and never gave me a bit of trouble! It was the best truck I ever road in or drove! I hit someone and air bag deployed and Insurance totaled it! It was like breaking with an old girl friend! Sorry for whining! Should I stick with the 5.4 or will the 4.6 work just as well? I do not haul much, other than a few jet ski's once a summer to that lake and back home when the summer is over. I do drive to the mountains a few times a year. Other than that I don't do much hauling. Thanks for your input! <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>

If you really don't haul much, and given gas prices, I'd go 4.6. It will still haul plenty and haul well, but it'll save you a bit at the pump and it's uber reliable.

I'd say either engine would do the trick for you. In my area, the 4.6 is pretty rare, so you may find the selection is a bit thin.

I would go with either with the 5.4, or the 4.6 3 Valve motor, they both come with the 6 speed auto which is the trans that helps with mpg and oomph!

I don't honestly see there being a big difference in fuel mileage between the 5.4L and 4.6L. Personally I would opt for the 5.4L and just have the extra grunt over the 4.6L at a minimal cost for extra fuel.

Work on finding a super crew that has the overall options that you want (i.e. 4/2WD, gearing, etc.). Go with whichever engine the vehicle you find happens to have.
