I purchased this intake a week ago from Summit Racing. Been scratching my head ever since I received it. It's supposedly an oem replacement. Except I'm missing some ports for vacuum, and both holes right below the carb on the driver and passenger side are not needed, but they only gave me the hardware to plug one of the holes.

Anyone ever installed this intake on this motor? Any ideas for install? I don't want to return this, but I'm running out of options for what to eliminate to make this work. I need all components for SMOG. I'm new to FORD as of a month now. Been a Jeep guy. Please educate me.

 

I installed something like this on a 1969 351W. The one I got only had one of those choke heater holes, but it did not come with a block-off plate. So I made one out of scrap metal and bolted it on with a gasket I cut out from a large sheet. You can make one as well, or get the Edelbrok block off plate that Summit also sells.

It looks like it has a big vacuum port in the back that you can use for the power brake booster. You can install a T-fitting or a tree there for other vacuum needs. One of my cars has a big hose that goes from the intake manifold to a small vacuum manifold on the fire wall to supply vacuum to the brake booster and other accessories such as the smog equipment solenoids and the A/C controls. You could rig up something similar.
