What do Y'all Make of This Ad?

Still looking around at trucks. I've called and emailed the owner of this truck, waiting to hear back from him on what exactly "needs rebuilt" means. I know the 300 is a stout little beast, so I figure it's either something simple like valves, or it's a spun bearing, broken chain, etc. In that case I'd be better off putting in a used 300, right? I'll update when I hear back from him.

Does that motor not have a warranty??? usually with a rebuilt motor will come with at least a 12 month 20K warranty.

Hahaha I'd almost forgotten Robert Stack was in that. Good one BVA.

Yep, it came with a 12/20 warranty. The 12mos. is already up.

Truck is a service body with plow hookup up front. Leads me to believe this thing is used hard and infrequently. Owner said put a little oil in the cylinder, turn it over a couple times, and compression goes up. Think I'll pass on this one... haha

If it's no compression on a single cylinder it's either a piston or a valve that is the problem.

Why pass on it? If the truck is decent you can always change the engine.

Check the truck over good and if it checks out you can always throw in a good used engine.

I've bought worse looking vehicles and swapped engines or transmissions.

I've got a few on my list in that price that are at least run/drive. Looks like this thing was used as a plow truck. Rusty, lots of neglected maintenance, rigged repairs. It'd be good for parts, possibly to fix. But I need to get one I can drive first.

If that's a rusty truck I would suggest never shopping for a truck in Minnesota!

Haha, yea we're on the outskirts of the rust belt. Looks like that service body was added later. This one's got cab frame and underpinning rust. If you look you can still find one thats been a DD and not a work truck pretty clean.

Could be a good deal, worth looking at it. If the other cylinders test good id say go for it. If the price is right part it out and get what you need/want out of it. Ive easily made money back from parts truck and even profited on several after i got what i wanted from them!
