oil temp guage
#20
The oil tends to get hot in these trucks. I'm guessing it has to do with the piston oil squirters and all the heat the oil pulls of the pistons. Thus why we have an oil cooler. The oil ends up dumping a ton of heat into the coolant. The oil temperature sounds normal for a diesel from research. These trucks do specify 2500 mile oil changes on severe use. Idling for more than 10 minutes for every hour of driving, towing at gcwr in hot and / or dusty conditions. Lots of short trips. This I'm just pulling off my head on what my visor in my truck says. I change mine at 3k as i do fall in severe with lots of short trips and idling warming the truck up.
