SubFord - I found your fuel tank selector switch thread searching for the wiring diagram for that switch on my 1977 F-250. I also see that you have a 77 F250. Can you help me track down the same sort of diagram for our truck? We are troubleshooting a dead fuel gauge and have tested a bunch of things including ground at the send units, ohms there, pulsing 5v from the IVR, etc, but cant quite figure out the ins and outs on that fuel tank switch and think since the gauge reads dead on both tanks, and all seems to be in order with the send units, it must have something to do with the path through this switch. The switch does work to actuate the actual fuel tank/line switch solenoid. Switching tanks at the switch works, but no reading on the fuel gauge.

Thanks for any help you might offer.

Jeff

My 1977 only has one tank and it is in the cab behind the seat.
Here is how it is wired, the diagram is for an 1983 but just looking at the fuel select solenoid that is the same except the fuse is F3. Power on tho the solenoid selects the front tank (mid) and with no power it is the rear tank (aft).:

Thank you for the response and diagram. Do you know where I should look to find the wiring diagram for the tank switching system on the 1977 F250? I have the Haynes, Chilton and set of 5 pdf versions of this thing's manuals but none has this wiring diagram.

My bad - Your Diagram Should do the trick

My bad subford > this diagram shows both single and double fuel systems. Note the grey box called"Fuel Tank Selector Switch"...it feeds the gauge from either front or rear tank through the yellow/white wire to connector C208A. That could be the point common to both tanks we're looking for!

subford- FUEL TANK SELECTOR VALVE

[quote=subford;11652239]Location as said above is on the drivers side frame rail under the bed:

Fuel tank selector valve:

Hey Subford, where's the best place to buy this fuel tank selector valve, O'rielly's nor AutoZone don't carry them or they carry a electric type.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>
Can it be cleaned out, having intermittent problems with it selecting the rear tank pump?

Most just order them from a Ford dealer but you will need the part number.
Some have cleaned them with limited success.

Part number:
Selector valve assy, p/n F1UZ-9B263-B.

f350 2002 overhead console/fuel gauge

My over head console stopped working, if I took the cover off it worked so I assumed it was a loose connection, Jammed a gum wrapper in the slot for the readout connection and it fixed the overhead console. Then I noticed the fuel gauge stopped working. Spent some time researching that and dreaded dropping the tank. Today I disconnected the overhead console wires and the fuel gauge started working again.
