What fuel milage on box van???

Does anyone have experience with a 1988 E350 Gulfstream box van/front, with a 351 FI,C6 non overdrive automatic, with a 4:10 rear end,as far as hiway, and around town fuel mileage?I am looking at one, and wondering.
Any input would be much appreciated. Thanks, for your help.

By box Van I assume you mean Cube Van so ....8-10 depending on shape of engine....on Hwy depends on how fast you go but it would be in that range if you are lucky....

I'd agree with that ^^ as well FWIW. Given the chassis, motor, transmission and adding a box as well 10 MPG's would be great. Something that size was meant to work and haul stuff, economy right out the window!

Yep, agreed. On box vans and class C motorhomes, more of your fuel mileage has to do with aerodynamics than you think. That big box above the cab is what catches the wind and sends your mileage out the window.
Example: I had a class C for awhile with a 460. I got about 7 MPG towing a car from Tn to Fl one time. I was mortified and thought it would be that way all the way back home, but I had noticed a pretty strong headwind all day. Return trip, I got about 11 without the headwind.
Good luck, but it's not going to be great mileage.

Ouch scotty, 7mpg. 11 ain't bad for a 460 though, but my 26ft Diesel class C gets around 12 with normal winds, and 14 with no wind.

That's gotta be one of the biggest reasons i'm hanging on to this thing. I wouldn't be able to comfortably afford to go near as far as I could now with my Diesel if I had a 460 camper.
