crank case vent ?

Can I just put a longer hose on the oil filler and zip tie it under the truck, and plug the hole into the intake?

Check out what I did HERE.

That was many moons ago (mileage wise) on the two trucks I did this to (my friend's and mine) and the garbage it catches and prevents from going back into motor is amazing!

Whats the point of the cannister? Why not just route the hose under the truck, for 10$

???

Did you see the pictures in that thread? The pic of my buddy's charge pipe in particular should give you a pretty good idea of that garbage that comes out of it. If you vent to atmosphere it's gonna smoke, smell and stain. I drain it at least once at month and I'm constantly amazed at how much junk is in there...

I'll just use a long piece of hose and go to the back of the truck.

Point of the can in the long run is to prevent oil run off etc from getting to everything else, too include the driveway.

If I were to do this mod I would route it to a canister of some kind.

Heres what i did, works great. I usually get about 4 table spoons of oil out of it every other week.
