Stolen Camera Update

Hard to take pics without a camera . . .

My friends smart phone had been taken along with my camera a wk or so ago.
Yesterday he started to get messages on his new phone that were trying to be sent to his old phone. One was "We have reflashed the phone and its now working that was such a smooth ripoff you should have been there"

So now he had the new number for the ripped off phone. Police got interested as combined it was over 1k replacement. A short time later I saw a camera identical to mine pop up on craigslist. no phone number . . . left message and a person responded, have to sell ASAP need it gone now! Person sent me pics to my cell phone. It looked identical to mine and they noted they had misplaced the battery charger. They did not get my battery charger in theft.

So 6pm I drive 30+ miles to inspect phone meeting the seller in a mall that is known for its gang activity. A bit nervous yeah. Finally a young gal 13-14 shows with her mom and younger sister. Are you the one looking for the camera?

Camera is not mine but brand new! Her mom says gramma bought it for her.
I had no intention of buying a camera was just looking for mine.

I buy the camera for 110.00 then she says how about the flash for 15.00?
It looked like a very nice flash so took a chance... When I got home I look up flash and it sells for 480.00!

So the moral of this story is: I simply did not have the funds to buy another nice camera for this project, have never owned a nice flash. If the camera was listed for 20.00 I would have never driven across town to look at it had it not had me thinking it was actually mine. In the end it was mine anyway and now have the means to take pics of this project.

Time to test out the camera.

Hoping to hear from Johnny law soon. Biggest thing is my memory card for camera as was a 16G and thousands of pics on it.

Law enforcement should be able to track the stolen phone along with video from gas station where it was taken.

So how is this relevant to the truck project? No camera no pictures . . .

Camera Testing 101

Now that I have a camera thought a few pics were in order.

Hmmm which truck do I use for the swap. Red/Red 66 or the light blue 66.

Picked up some brand new takeoff 2012 F150 Lariat Wheels for only 265.00 for set of 4 with caps! Not ideal maybe but will work for now.

Randy is that the same lift you had up here in Garagemahall? I see the orange and white Boss swb has the front clip and hood back on it and doors too. How goes the work on that sweet slick? Are you posting any pics anyplace as to how that build goes? I know if anyone can pull this eco build off it going to be you.

If I get down your way sometime Ill have to stop in and see your new diggs.

Good Idea! I just may find a way to do that!

how about "EcoSlick"


Only place it will really fit would be on tailgate.

F150 badging in one corner and EcoSlick in other? Or maybe the 2011-12 F150 badge in place of the twin I beam F100. Will have to see what looks the best and if I go twin I beam or 11-12 front suspension

1966 Cab onto 2011-12 Chassis

Not only is the 66 cab going to fit on the 2011-12 Chassis but the STOCK cab mounts bolt right up to the 2011-12 Chassis! U N B E L I E V A B L E ! !

It also looks like if I take the rear cab to frame mount and move it forward on inside of frame it will also be in correct position.

Plenty of clearance for engine also. It also appears the 2011-12 core support can be used along with the entire cooling module.

A lot of fitting and thinking yet but when those front cab mounts will bolt right up blew my mind.

The 2011-12 cab mounts are a fair amount taller so If I want to drop the cab some the 1966 mounts can be used.

I had to do a modification to my hoist in order for it to properly lift the regular cab. Slightly different hoist than my last one.

No the lady there wanted that hoist. This one is a 12,000lb unit. nice in some ways as a lot wider but the arms do not pivot back like that one did. Had to do some mods to it in order for it to work on a regular 66' style cab.

I think I would prefer the one I left behind . . .

Teaser Shots

A couple teaser Shots.

Ordered some shop manuals and a CD Shop manual and they showed today.
The wiring manual should be a huge help in getting this all working together.
The 11' also had Sync so picked up another manual on that. the original got destroyed.
Unused owners manual etc still in glovebox

Its soooo nice to have the entire shop manual on my desk top!

I had not pulled a cab and front clip together before. Talk about a fast way to get er' done
Stripped the cab and had it all off in under 2 hours! Took a solid 15 minutes to pull the front clip . . .

Awesome that you were even able to find a f150 that was that cheap! finding crashed f150s that new must not of been easy. Anyways this build has crossed my mind once or twice before. nice to see someone starting on it! If you need any technical advice I'd love to help, Im a ford technician and would love to be on board with this if you needed any help. even though it looks like you have plenty of experience.

Thanks for the offer Wyatt! I will take you up on that if I run into a snag.

A lot to learn in this swap right now but am very excited, especially after doing a quick will it fit when I dropped the cab in place.

A couple things I may need help with so far is this truck came with a 3.15 gear set. I need a complete axle but the only one found close so far is the 3.31. How would I recalibrate for the speed difference?

Also how can I bypass the side air bags? I would like to have at least the steering wheel and pass side airbags working. When it got hit from behind the side airbags deployed but not the seat or dash/steering wheel bags. If I just have to eliminate them that would be ok too.

The shop manuals that just showed today should be a big help. OASIS avail would be nice! I am sure I will run into plenty of issues along the way as I get more into it.

Have you pulled a cab yet on a new 150? those bolts with no access to nuts was miserable as they all spun up top with no way to get to them. I am sure it was from getting hit in rear and the cab moved but cannot imagine trying that with a few years and miles into it. Other wise its only a couple hour job or less to remove the cab.

Thanks for the link! I will probably do that. Because of the sheet metal shape on the 66 the only spot that seems to fit would be the tailgate.

Probably my most exciting build so far and have done a few . . .
My 66 427 F100 project is at a standstill now because of the excitement of this build.

If I could do nothing but work on 1965-66 Ford trucks until I kick the bucket that would be fine with me. Just gotta keep getting creative with them. I learned today that a 6.7L swap in one of these would be cake~walk. That may be the next one. But may save that engine for a larger Ramp Truck type build if I can find one. Thought of picking up a Firetruck style and putting a ramp on back powered by the 6.7L PowerStroke

Look at those Cab Mounts!

Ok, A sneak peek at the near perfect alignment of the cab mounts. 1966 cab to the 2011-12 Chassis.

Also check out the wheel opening with the fender installed with cab mounts aligning perfect.

I kinda like the red with white fender look.

Simply amazing the cab mount will work with a near 50yr spread.

I still have not decided which firewall to use and which dash, which floor. From the looks of it the 1966 cab onto the 2011-12 chassis is complete cake~walk. I just need to decide how much 1966 truck I want and how much 2011-12 truck I want. On the next one I can always make changes one way or other. To save $$ right now am leaning towards using as much as the 2011-12 parts as possible. Why cover the original seat for 7-800.00 when I have a super comfortable 2011 seat. same with dash. Why use up my perfect 1966 dash when I have a brand new one for free. Same with seat belts etc.

Now after looking at it if the late model firewall is used I would have to move the engine back a foot because there would be soooo much room there. A ton of room right now. Which indicates to me with the late model firewall from the 150 a PowerStroke would slide right in. Mind blowing on the possibles here.

Obviously I have decided to use the 300.00 truck vs the cream puff I was first thinking. Will have to dream up another for that. Possible 2.0 EcoBoost for the daughters to drive.
This truck would probably weigh around 3000lbs with the 2.0L eco in it. Hmmm I see them in the Ford Racing catalog too.

The nice thing of using the blue truck for eco transplant is I would not have to paint it.

Does anyone want a nice original floor? Very solid with a super minor rust spot about the size of a silver dollar
