09 F350 Crew Speaker Upgrade
My 09 F350 Crew FX4 came with the top level audio system including the NAV system and under-seat subwoofer(s).
I frequently use the truck while tailgating, camping, etc, with the doors open to play music for the group. I need more sound volume. I turn it to MAXIMUM VOLUME and it's not enough. I'd like to increase the sound volume for sure and improve the sound quality as well.
Where can I find a detailed list of specifications regarding size, ohms, watts, locations, etc for all of my speakers including the subs and amps?
For those that have done this before, what do you recommend upgrading? I am happy to keep the factory NAV head unit (I paid a lot for it). Can I just upgrade speakers or speakers and amps?
I am a DIY'er so I would likely buy the stuff from Crutchfield or some other source and do the work myself.
Thanks!

I have the factory nav/9 speaker system. I upgraded the sub and the amp in my truck, that's it. Everything else (so far) is factory and it's loud. My amp runs the doors as well as the sub, so everything is bumped up now. The factory door speakers keep up pretty good, but some new ones are on the wish list.
What I added:
Audio Control LC6i - (LOC)
JL HD900/5 - amp
JL 13TW5 - sub

They didn't go in the stock location but they're out of the way and didn't take away too much room. The LC6i is the line converter, it handles the speaker level inputs and outputs the rca's to your amp. From there, it's back up to the wiring harness behind the dash for the door speakers and some speaker wire from the amp to the sub. The sub box that I purchased (google SPL2k, that's your go-to guy imo) goes behind the rear drivers side seat. My amp and the LOC (LC6i) are in my rear pass. side underseat storage, which worked out well because it locks separately from the other side. They fit perfect in there:
Dave also did a great write up for his setup as well, lots of pics/information in this thread:

I'd like to keep everything hidden and not lose any of my other equipment (like the jack, etc). If I can keep the OEM sub box and replace the amp/sub with components that will fit in the same locations, I'd like to do that. I could probably fit the controller behind the rear seat or under the passenger seat.

I can't really say what upgrading the speaker/amp in the factory box would do. I never even thought to do that after seeing the quality of it (or lackthereof). You could definitely go that route though if you wanted, I'm sure there's gotta be an aftermarket speaker out there that would fit the factory box/air space. Not sure you'll find an amp that small that would mount in the same spot but there may be something out there, not sure.

Yeah, that looks exactly like what's in my truck. It's behind the rear split/folddown seat. After reading a few more posts and looking at the stuff on Ford F-250/F-350 Supercrew Cab 08-12 Dual BTS Subwoofer Box
That "sounds" like the way to go.
