Question turbo temps

how hot is too hot what should i set my pyro defuel temp at
i dont want to accidently damage my turbo
2010 6.4

Mine is set to defuel at 1450. When I deleted the DPF though I don't get anywhere near those temps anymore. I used to try to keep it below 1350 with my eye on it but pulling the pass with weight always bumped up the EGT's when I was stock and in a regen.

I have mine set at 1400F Even WOT up the steepest longest grades will only net me in the 1300's. That is with a GCVWR of just over 23K and about 55 mph is all I can get out of her.

IMO, 1300-1350 max EGT sustained and thats only tell oil temps get to 230, if your oil gets over 230 you need to back out of it, 230 degree+ oil temps with EGTS over 1300 degrees= motor toast, why because the oil cooling efficiency to the pistons is gone and the pistons will heat soak and start to melt.

The best EGT is one you can maintain without the oil and coolants temps steadily rising, every load is different and every truck is different. My suggestion is find the sweet spot in that range and you will never have an issue.
