rocks460 - i thought about just drilling holes like u said but the bumper is not flat on the top and when i tried to drill straight down the metal was to hard for the drillbit to bite. i may try to drill again this time center punching the holes first. Has anyone actually drilled holes for lights in these bumpers?
If so let me know how u did it and post some pics
thanks
rocks460 - Ive decided to weld light tabs on the stock bumper
ordered the light tabs off ebay
waiting for them to arrive then i will gas weld them to the bumper
Yes you can drill through the bumper, you'll just want to center punch the bumper first so you don't leave wounder tracks and if you can use a step drill bit. If not then use a small bit then work up to desired hole size. Make sure you don't hit any coolant lines behind the bumper or anything else.
Welding light tabs is easier in the long run if you have the materials on hand. Also makes changing out the light to upgraded or replacement light if you brake them.
I dont have any pics of tabs on a bumper but its the same idea as adding tabs to a headache rack i.e. backup, siren, flood, break lights.
Just mock them up and make sure your happy with them before you weld them on. Also you can use a welding magnet from harbor freight ($3-9) to hold the tabs to the bumper in this process.
