I will go look again tomorrow in daylight, I would go out there now with a flashlight but it's pouring. If I remember correctly the last time I took the whole thing off it was not able to be moved. The groove only allowed it to be put back where it was, unless I missed something?

They are black & blend in, use a flashlight or sunlight you will see a small tab to push down on. I would take a photo, but we got hammered with 15 inches of snow!

I know there is a tab to pop the wiper arm off, it sort of pushes up, but after the blade is off I didn't see any way to move them. Well I'll update you tomorrow thanks so much for the help.

Ok, so here we go, I went back out today, I pried up the black tab that is at the bottom and I removed the whole arm. Underneath is a silver dial with a keyed large groove. In the inner assembly of the arm is a thick black key that goes in that groove. Today I tried removing the black key and was able to and then moved the wiper. However, there is no provision to move the key and get it back in and so now it is on but it is without the keyed slot. This doesn't seem tight to me. Let me know what you think.

I took some pictures to help understand what I see-

Here's the grooved thing that turns the wiper (with the blade off)
You can see the big groove

Here's the side view you can see the small grooves along the side

This is the interior of the wiper arm blade, you can see the big black key that rides in the silver groove

This is the wiper arm with the black key removed, it did just come right out, last time I tried it wouldn't budge.

Here is the picture of the key, no longer installed,

So, if you have any help I'd appreciate it. On the plus side my wiper is now sitting higher, but I am not sure if it's needing that key or not....

Good to know someone is using it the way I have it now too.

So if the damn thing isn't needed why do they put it there like that?

For anyone that wants a set of these I was going to buy them at the website but then I found the seller on eBay and he's selling them at a discount there. I even offered $5 and he asked $6 so good deal for all I suppose-

Sure Wipe Add on Wiper Arm Spring No Wind Lift Wiper | eBay

I use to have a 99 Expedition with a similar setup without the key. No matter what, I couldn't keep that wiper on tight. It would always loosen up and spin. That little key would prevent that...

Honestly, I see no other way to adjust the wiper other than to remove the key, so this is a catch 22 imho. Where's that stewart no it all guy when you need him?? He usually knows everything about everything.....
