2000 Excursion or 1997 F250 HD Psd?

I am torn between a 2000 Excursion Limited 4x4 and a 1997 F250 HD 4x4. Both have the Powerstroke and I have been looking for one for a while.

The 1997 4x4 Psd, 110,000 miles on it. 2nd owner no rust in excellent shape mint interior. all it needs is a glow plug controller. 4x4 extended cab 8' bed Heavy Duty package, Power locks, windows and seat as loaded as you can get for a 97! My friends dads truck or weekend driver, No rust for around Chicago is amazing. 10,000.00

The 2000 Ex 4x4 psd, 271,000 miles 1 owner dealer maintained since new it looks like it has a recent turbo, 8 injectors and transmission. Fully loaded limited package very clean as well but could use tires. hes asking 8,500.00

I am torn between the two. I like the Ex because of all the fancy options and mass amount of space, the only thing is that the miles are almost 2x what the other truck is but it has no smoke, blowby or any other signs of work needed besides tires.

Should I be concerned about the mileage? I am pretty new to diesels and this will be my first one im just considering my options I kinda like the Ex a little better and it rides nicer but I know the 97 is just broken in but I dont think has had as much done to it. I have also heard that the best year for the psd is 97. I figured Id ask here and see what you guys thought! thanks!

That F250 seems a little pricey for a 1997...

What are you going to use the vehicle for?

I plan on using it for a daily driver and about 5 times a summer I pull a derby car about 120 miles round trip I have a F350 with a V10 but that has countless issues that arent worth fixing. I take long trips usually 300+ miles a few times a year also. I think comfort wise the ex is the best but 10k does seem high but the truck is in showroom shape minus one little scratch. I dont really go off road just in the pits at the track and its not fun getting out with a 2wd.

Just mileage wise I say the 97. Less then half of the miles of the ex, I do agree the the 97 were pretty slim on options but if you are planning to keep long term I would go with the 97.
