Speedometer re-calibration for 295-70-18 tires

Has anyone had their 2011 speedometer re-calibrated at the dealership for switching tire size from 275-70-18 to 295-70-18?
Thanks

Tried this last week.
CEL's every time the tech made a change.
They started with 20's but since I have a 3.31, I knew this would throw a CEL due to others posting about that here.
Then they tried the various 18inch wheel sizes and the truck still threw CEL.
Put the truck back to the default and was an instant CEL fix but the computer speed is obviously still wrong by a few MPH.

My dealer is looking into the issue with Ford and will let me know.
If they find something out, it may be summer before I have them look at it again unless it's a quick fix.

Edit: I should answer your question though....... No.

kper05, thanks for the info. I have a 6.2L with 4:30 gears. I posted here because the 6.7 seems to get alot more views than the 6.2L area. I have read a lot on this subject but I find may different answers, one thread said you can only reprogram with stock tire sizes that were avaliable from the factory others said you use tire rev. per mile others said you pick a tire dia. from the list avaliable in the computer up to 35". So I am just trying to sort this out before I go to the dealer.
Thanks

I talked to my dealership today about changing the settings for the Titan tank and the tire size (when I change tires). He said they can do both, no problem.

What tire are you going with ??
Any issues with rubbing or do the fit easily ??

You can change to any tire size (up to a point, 35" I think) on the size wheel that is available with your particular axle. The problem usually comes in with the 3.31 because to get the correct size you end up putting in a 20" wheel and that throws the CEL. Now someone else got around this by having the dealer also change the computer to tell it he has the 3.55 not the 3.31. Not sure if this will cause any other issues, but I think it solved the CEL light problem.

Would there really be an issue going from a 275 to a 295? You are not changing the wheel diameter or the aspect ratio.....just the width of the tire by appox 3/4" of an inch.

There is a diameter change between these two tires. You are getting confused with the English units of measure (35"x12.5"x18R) for tires with the more common measurement units (295/70/18R)=(295mm/70%/18")

275mm wide w/ 70% of that width is the sideway height: (192.5mm=7.58") --> 18"+(7.58x2)=33.16"
295mm wide w/ 70% of that width is the sidewall height (206.5mm=8.13") --> 18"+(8.13x2)=34.26"

I put the same exact tires on my truck. Instead of going through the hassle of getting the speedo corrected, I purchased an 'UltraGauge'. It can be calibrated to read out the correct speed/MPG with different sized tires. You just have to calibrate it by either planning out a trip of a known distance and calibrate the distance traveled on the UG at the end of the trip...or you can do like I did and just measure the physical diameter difference in the two tires and enter that correction factor into the UG.

My speedo still doesn't read correctly, but I just glance and the nice/clear digital display of the UG to get my exact speed/MPG (along with my exact engine temp, intake temp, gallons of fuel in tank, mass airflow rate, etc). As a bonus, my truck clocks less miles on the odometer

I went with Nitto Terra Grapplers, they fit without any problem. I started a thread with lots of pictures https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...95-70-18s.html

So no one has actually had this re-calibration done to their truck yet?

I haven't gone through it, but I know my truck was recalibrated according to my dealer. I have no idea of the procedure as I bought the truck used with 35's on it and the speedometer reads accurate as do the miles. I asked them about it and they said it was recalibrated by their service department, but they didn't go into any details.
