weldable bellowed inserts

Guys, is this what i need to fab up my own bellowed uppies...

Vibrant 40055S SS Bellows Assemblies

If so, what do i use then for the "leak" part? The Felpro gaskets or oem ones with the oem collector. Reason being, buddy discovered the uppies leaking ,and so were thinking of goin this route. Ya, he gots the cashflow for the INTL ones, but he's not hurting with down down, so thought it would be a cool project to try this...thx

Or these...

Either of those will work, it's your decision really, I've done 2 sets, one with bellowed and one with flex. One set I used stock(ish) gaskets, on another I completely welded the collector and pipes together. The flex will allow for it to be connected easily enough.

SWEET!!! I'm down to welding them up...thanks Al. Al, when welding them, did you set the collector onto the turbo for mauk-up, along with placement of the bellows?

when you welded the pipes to the collector...do you mean bellows to the collector flange, then bolt that to the collector...or just remove the collector flange, and weld the bellows to the actual collector(baby butt)? the collector is cast and the flange looks like steel...would like to know details and how actually they held up.

also how hard was it to get that whole assembly back into the truck?

sorry for the questions...but i have an extra set of pipes and collector and would like to try it...thanks

Both sets were built on a motor out of a truck, Welded flex joint into collector, using machinable nickel in short welds. I used Crown Alloy 255 rods.

The joints allowed for quite a bit of movement, and they were installed into a motor in a truck after being made. It was tight but doable.

The other set with a bellows(Could use flex joint as well) was simply a section cut out, welded bellows into the pipes, and then used stock(ish) gaskets. Both sets have quite a few miles without any leaks. This is a simpler method too.

About an inch below the Flange that bolts to the collector. It is a reasonably straight section.

Sorry I wasn't clear, no contortionist here LOL, I have some spare motors and have used those as "mock up" after they were welded together collector and pipes together were slid down the back of the block from above, the only things removed from the motor were turbo, pedestal, and down pipe.

Im looking into doing this too. I have a set of stock uppipes and would like to add the bellows. I just need to find a collector and a pedestal for a 99.5-02 then I can do a mauk-up.
