Best exhaust tip tone?
Well i got my downpipe today finally. Getting the pipe this week and gonna try to have my exhaust done next week (doing it all myself). Havent ordered the tip yet cuz im just not sure which will sound best on the end of it. It will be exiting before my rear passenger tire. Im wanting a more throaty and deep tone. 3" downpipe - 4" pipe - 135degree bend - tip. So, with that said, which will sound better, 6" or 7" tip? Havent found many high quality vids on youtube.
Thanks!
Thanks!

I've just got the downpipe that goes to 4' of 4" pipe, and then a 45 degree elbow. Sounds pretty good to me. I don't really care that much about how it sounds, but I get compliments.
Edit: To clarify, there is no "tip" so to speak. You can't even see the pipe unless you're looking for it. I've got it running just past the cab and I brought it just outside the frame, but still under the bed.

I have a BFN 5" sitting on the shelf ever since I bolted on my exhaust. When I put the 4" pipe in, I really didn't care for the added bling that I would have to keep polished. I really like it to look stock if possible. The 4" pipe looks stock. All I hear is the turbo shriek anyways. It's lovely.

If you can ignore me talking, this is a 4 inch straight pipe with a 90 turning it out where it is. No tip. Sitting on high idle. No cat or muff. Taken right at a year ago. Wheel stays clean, just the bottom of the fender gets a little black..
Click on the pic to hear it. Just a cell phone recording, so not the best for sure.

Sort of lost on how you guys are claiming a larger tip is going to change exhaust tone. I have a straight piped 4 inch Diamond Eye system...... putting a big bling A$$ tip on it does not change the tone... so please explain how you came to this assumption?
5 inch is only needed if you are pushing enough volume through the pipe and 99% of the guys on here are not even close...mostly for looks...and so is the tip.
However I would like to hear your explanation of how a tip changes tone or resonance if it is simply a larger size of pipe without baffeling. A full 5 inch exhaust may resonate at a different tone due to harmonics over the entire length (15+feet) of the exhaust but I'm open ears on a under 16"large diameter bling tip changing the tone.....
Not trying to shoot you down at all just simply asking

The tip works like the bell on the end of a brass horn or the horn on the end of a megaphone. It really does make a difference as long as the tip is not just a chrome piece screwed over the stock pipe. If the pipe is cut off at the start (where it attaches to the pipe) of the tip a larger tip can really make a big difference in the sound of an exhaust system. Varying the length of the tip can make a big difference as well. That's why you generally see tips sold for the same diameter of pipe in varying lengths.
