F350 set up questions

I want to run a 315/75/16 on stock 7" wheels (factory Alcoa) will this set up be too squishy to tow with. This is on a 96 F350 and I will regear, just want to keep the Alcoa's.

You need at LEAST 8" wide wheels with 315's. Nines would be better. That 315 is approx. 12.5" wide, and the narrow rim is going to cause a serious hump in the tire. I don't know about stability or tire structure issues, but tread wear will be terrible.

Anyone have an accurate width in the Alcoa wheels? I find 7-7.5" and am sure that is going to be accurate. I am leaning towords a smaller tire because I think it will just hurt towing ability if I go too big.

Just as a FYI and maybe to help you make the decision I calculated some various tire dimensions.
1) 315/75-16 = 12.4" x 34.6"
2) 295/70-16 = 11.6" x 32.3"
3) 285/75-16 = 11.2" x 32.8"

I have 285's on there now and it is a pretty big tire it just looks small on the F350.
