Mixing differant brands of ELC coolant

Hi everyone, I'm hoping to install my Bullet Proof water pump this coming weekend and also planning to do a distilled water flush and switching to ELC

Are ELC coolants compatible with each other? I've been reading alot about the ELC coolants and have not had much luck answering this question.

Personally I wouldn't mix them. Just me. Pick the one you want to use and stick with it.

Thanks 69cj maybe i should word my question better.

If i switch to EC-1 ELC and have a cooling system issue (hose split or other leak) while away for home could i top off the coolant with any EC-1 ELC coolant without flushing the system.

I would top off with distilled water myself. Then you can add coolant to get 50-50.

Thing to be aware of is that you can not just drain out the Ford gold, flush only with distilled water and think everything will be ok. You are changing the coolant type, not just the coolant. To change coolant type REQUIRES that you flush using two chemicals. The restore and restore+ flushes serve two different purposes.
The restore chemical flush removes a film that the Ford Gold coolant deposits on the walls of the cooling system to help combat cavitation.
The second chemical, restore+ (same as the ford VC-9, only less expensive) is to remove rust scale build up in the cooling system.
Should you skip the restore step, you could have a chemical reaction between the film left by the Ford Gold and the ELC style coolant. If you were to skip the restore+ step, you would be leaving the junk that clogs the oil cooler sitting there as a ticking time bomb.

I agree. Top off with distilled water until you can get to some of your type of coolant.

Thanks for the insight guys, At this point i think I'll flush with distilled water and refill with Ford gold. At 93000 miles i have great temp. spread of 4-5 and don't want to mess that up with adding the cleaners to the system. If i ever have a oil cooler issue i will do a complete flush at that time.

I think that's a wise decision.
