[updated:LAST EDITED ON 14-Oct-02 AT 09:24 PM (EST)]I have a 1994 F-150 4x4 engine 302 That looses power on really windy days, a friend told me it was the map sensor is their any truth to this, If it is true how do I go about fixing it or even checking it to see if thats the really problem. Any info would be very greatful. Thank You

On the highway? Thats probably because your truck isn't very aerodynamic, and when a lot of extra wind is coming you're way, it holds the truck back. Stick your hand out the window at 75 when a 15-20mph wind is coming at you and then picture that hitting practically 7x7 foot wall.

Yeah the MAF shouldn't have anything to do with it since it is always windy inside the MAF.

You would be surprised at how much difference wind can make on slab sided trucks like ours. if you tow, you can really feel the difference. On flat level roads I have noticed that in windy conditions(headwind especially) my truck will keep shifting to 3rd to maintain speed if I am towing.

I had a rice burner truck that once could barely make 50mph in a near 60mph headwind, that truck would normally do 100.

It's the wind, not the MAF.

I do realize that on a windy day your going to lose power due to aerodynamics but not like this, it actually feels like I'm pulling a trailer but I'm not. Thats how bad it gets, to my understanding the map sensor regulates the airflow to the computer, which in turn changes the fuel amount to account for how much air is coming in. But it seems to be getting to much fuel, so I considered it might be the fuel regulator. But I have no idea what the problem is the map sensor or the fuel regulator, can anyone help. Thank You
