I still had the one on the truck from the C4 and 302 combination and it wasn't quite long enough. Would you happen to have a picture of the orientation of the shifter lever on your C6 to see if maybe that is where I made my mistake? I took a million pictures of everything BUT that it seems. Thanks again Mike, for all your help.

I think there is an extension you need for "your" carb. I run a 80's holley and I had to make an extension for mine.(I'm cheap)
I took another and cut the front off flattened & rolled a length and clamped it to the another linkage. It extends about 2+ inches.
When I need to go back to the old, I think motorcraft, I remove the extension so it works for both.
I recall there is a extension kit that bolts right up. But I don't have the link.

Here are a couple of pictures, don't know if this is what you need.
The first pic is the shift rod where it connects to the steering column. The second is where the rod connects to the tranny. This one was taken (obviously) after the column was removed so the column end of the rod is just hanging'.

Thanks Mike, it would appear that I have the orientation wrong on the lever on my transmission. I hope this is something I can change without too much trouble. I remember it not being the funnest thing to get together when I assembled it. I was afraid this might be an issue. Well, 100 things to do just became 101. Thank you for all the pictures. They were a great help. It looks like the shift linkage that I have will work just fine when I get the lever oriented correctly. If you ever find yourself in the Charlotte, NC area, please let me know so that I can get you and your family dinner. It would be the least I could do. Thanks again.

All I can say is your truck looks great. I love the paint.
Your dad would be proud of it and you too.
Hope mine turns out as well.

Thanks again Mike. After having taken another look at my options, I think I will just cut the linkage arm off and use the billet aluminum one that the Lokar kit came with. It beats taking the pan off and fiddling around upside down under the truck for a few hours. Since Pop's truck is SO original, I hope no one notices a little billet under the truck.

Again, love the color combo.

Thank you Mike. I got very lucky with the color choice. A little off topic question, but do you know of anyone who makes a 7" brake booster assembly for the 77' F150? I have found them for the bronco, but I don't know if they will fit Pop's truck or not. Everyone seems to think that I need power brakes, so I guess I'll do the conversion, but I want it to look as natural in the engine compartment as I possibly can, meaning chrome or polished. Also, I'm an engineer, but not much in the way of fabricating, so I'm pretty good at design, but not so much with a welder (insert respect and jealousy face here).
