79 body to 72 frame?

I was wondering if this was possible?
And if it were, is it legal?
I was just curious..

It would be a performance step backwards in my opinion because are a lot of advancements in the 73-79 truck (cab has more room, truck more like to have power disc brakes, better track width at the rear, etc).

Since the cab is larger on the 79, the bed would need to be shortened to fit (I think 4 inches, but this is only going from memory).

Legally, the vehicle would be titled as a 72 and there would be nothing illegal about having 79 body parts on it.
