1990 bronco II transmission/clutch catastrophe HELP PLEASE!

Hey guys i bought a 1990 Bronco 2 5-spd with a 180k for miles. Truck looked great and ran great at the time of sale. 60miles into the trip home the clutch went right to the floor with no pressure at all. i pulled over and turned the truck off but after about 20minutes i got back in it and the clutch had pressure and was back to normal again....during this well right before i pulled over a puff of smoke had come out of either a vent or my shift boot im not sure i saw it out of the corner of my eye. and also well i was pulled over i checked the clutch fluid and it was full to the top. Anyways as soon as i start driving 1st 2nd and 3rd now have a winding sound but when i get into fourth its barly noticeable if at all. Got home and checked the transmission fluid and it was low to the point where i couldnt feel anything with my finger inside of it...filled her up with fluid but still winding....i have no idea whats going on and any help would be appreciated.

First of all welcome to the forum. I'm sure you'll find a lot of good information from the members. Sometimes it's slow in the process though. Sort of like now. I know it's been a while since you posted this and maybe you have some answers to some of your questions. But I wanted to let you know what I had experienced with a problem similar to yours. The whining noise you are hearing is a roller bearing in the transmission. They don't like to run without oil and they don't like abuse like trying to spin the tires on pavement. This is what mine did on my 90 Ranger. So you have some options of what to do and go from there. Replace the bearings, replace the trans or just get rid if it altogether. Let us know how it goes.

faulty slave or master cyl, would be my guess on the clutch pressure loss, if it doesn't leak
