I've got an E7TE roller 5.0 that I will eventually rebuild for my 56 truck project.

I'm going to make it a carberated engine and I need a distributor.

Since I got a Napa car parts gift certificate from Christmas and figure I need to spend it soon, I have been looking at distributors.<O</O

From what I've read on the forum, the 1985 Mustang 5.0 manual transmission steel gear distributor is the way to go, but I wanted to double check with you all before I make my order.

I was asked if it's vacuum advance, which I assume it is and whether is dual advance which I believe it is not?<O</O

When I spoke to Napa a few minutes ago, they offered a new "Vapex" unit for $95.00 new plus about $12.00 shipping which seems to be a good deal - does anyone have experience with the Vapex brand? They want $73 for the Napa rebuilt but no cap or rotor.

You're correct, 85 Mustang 5.0 HO with manual transmission is the only application that used a Duraspark distributor with a steel cam gear. I bought one from Advance Auto a few years ago for $55 with a good core. Don't recall the vender though, but it's still doing the deed in my 331.

 

Thanks baddad457! Looking at other vendors too (autozone Cardone brand) at this point. Looks like a good deal on these units. Joe
