99 5.4l issue. See if you can unstump!

Hello people!
I have a 99 5.4L that I got 2 years ago. At that time I added a new fuel filter among other things. Anyway the problem that I am having has stumped me since iv owned the truck but now its getting worse so I need to ask you experts.
I get up each morning and start the truck cold. It starts normal. Turns over 8 times. Great. Then say I drive the truck and get it hot. If I **** Tue truck off and say...go into a store or something, come out to leave and the truck has a lot of trouble starting. It will crank and crank like 20 turns then act like its dieing until I give a little gas to get er going.
Now if I,let's say "prime" it first. Turn key on and hear the fuel pump for about 10 seconds it will fire up like normal. 8 turns.
Now the problem is getting a little bit worse. I have to prime it twise to get it to go.

After the truck is started it runs and dives normal. Idles Fine. Runs out strong. Normal.

Any thoughts on this? There are no codes and I did the spark plugs when I did the fuel filter 2 years ago.

I would get a fuel pressure tester and test your fuel pressure on the fuel rail, key on, then running, then key off for 5 mins for hold test
Since you dont smell gas at start up in the exhaust or smell of gas in the oil ,leading to a leaking injector or injectors
With the rail test you can see if your fuel regulator or the pump are working properly

Ok will do. Can you commonly rent a tester from a parts supplier typically?
