1986 FORD F150 REAR AXLE INTERCHANGE FOR 1997 +
Hi guys.
need help to decide.I am parting out a 1986 Explorer f150.The differential is a 3.55 limited slip 8.8.If i keep this axle would it fit 1997+ models. If so it will fit which years?if not what years is this axle interchangeable for?
all help appreciated.

No, they went o metric around 97-up. They also went to disc brakes sometime afterward. It will also not fit some of the late 80's models(I am guessing around 88 or 89-up) because it doesn't have the sensor mounted in the rearend for the RABS, and definitely will not fit the later models that use this same sensor for the speedometer.
