Exclamation 1986 FORD F150 REAR AXLE INTERCHANGE FOR 1997 +

Hi guys.
need help to decide.I am parting out a 1986 Explorer f150.The differential is a 3.55 limited slip 8.8.If i keep this axle would it fit 1997+ models.If so it will fit which years?if not what years is this axle interchangeable for?
all help appreciated.

No, they went o metric around 97-up. They also went to disc brakes sometime afterward. It will also not fit some of the late 80's models(I am guessing around 88 or 89-up) because it doesn't have the sensor mounted in the rearend for the RABS, and definitely will not fit the later models that use this same sensor for the speedometer.

At some point, not sure when, they went to a 6 lug axle as well on the late models
