ICP PRESSURE QUESTION

Hi all,

I am wondering if there is any flexibility in the desired ICP at idle of 625.5? Once warmed up I am consistently measuring ~580. I occasionally have a hard hot start. Is 625 a HARD left shoulder or is there an acceptable bracket? thanks,

Your ICP is sitting right about where most sit. Mine runs at 580 also, and have seen many mention the same. So, I don't think it is hard setting.

Check the IPR%. As long as it's in the 16-24% range at low idle then the truck is correctly building and maintaining HPO. IIRC mine runs 580ish hot and 620ish cold, it seems like it changes its mind sometimes but I only have this PID up randomly, and since people usually put up numbers around each of those I'd guess each one is acceptable to the PCM.

As I understand it, if you were having a small HPO leak the ICP would probably still be in the 580-620 range, but the IPR% would be jacked up over 65% because the valve is doing all it can to restrict drainage to counteract the leak. If you have a really bad leak, ICP won't go over 500 and the truck won't start.

Roger. I took the readings with the coolant temp @ 186 (only at idle). I will take the readings at 190 both at idle and 2500 rpm and post.

Forgot 1 thing truck has also GOT to be in PARK for all tests

ECT 186 is fine for test or close enough

And then take again when your having your Hot Hard Start Issue

Take Both ICP psi and Also ICPV (VOLT) if you can and IPR% at everytest/hardstart Both numbers are good to have But we will mainly look at IPR%

This Test Procedure must be Done Exact or you will have skewed results

Here are the readings I took this morning @ ECT 184/EOT 188:

Idle: ICP 580/IPR 21.8

2500: ICP 1430/IPR 39.8

ICP numbers are a bit low but acceptable then?

Typical diagnostic reference values straight from the PC-ED (2007 MY): note- reference values may vary up tp 20% depending on operating conditions, engine load, temperature, altitude, and other factors.

IPR%:
KOEO - 14.84
Hot Idle - 22
30 mph - 29.3
55mph - 36.33

ICP:
KOEO - 0
Hot Idle - 580
30mph - 858.6
55mph - 1126.6

I don't know where the low idle/high idle thing in all the SCII coding lists came from, I only have the Ford manuals to go off of.

Those values came from Cheezit

So the Ford Manual Had ICP and IPR% Values for 30mph and 55mph?? that you Posted Here
I did notice that you posted these values may have a 20% Diffrence to me thats pretty BIG Diffrence.

IMO 5% IPR% the wrong way would mean Leak

The Reason I asked to take Numbers is all the Varibles are Controlled at ECT190* and at Low Idel and at High Idel (2500rpm)

Driving down the road has to many Varibles Wind drag or going up a Hill

Heres the Values I got from Cheezit below
In order at KOEO & Low Idel & hIGH iDEL (2500RPM) Last set of numbers would be sensor Range
ICP{ 0.2 KOEO}{1.0Low Idel}{1.8high Idel} {0.15 - 4.7range} VOLT Injection Control Pressure
ICP_DES 0 625.5 1400 - 1450 0 - 4045 PRESSURE (PSI) ICP Desired
IPR # 14.84 24 40.60 0 - 50 PERCENT Injection Pressure Regulator

All those Sensor Values Look Fine to Me

IMO you dont have a High Pressure Oil Issue

next time it has a Hot Hard start take those numbers again and comparethem to the Values

I think your starting issue is something else though
