56 f-100 rear axle center line

does anyone have a measurement for the rear axle center line for a 56 f-100? I would like to double and triple check my measurements prior to welding in my 4-link. thanks

When I installed my 4-link I left the leaf springs attached to the diff and used them to position my axle then welded the mount points where they needed to be on the frame.

Unless your 4-link goes in place of where the leaf springs were that would be my recommendation. Other than that the wheel base is 110" and you should center up from some point of reference on the frame like one of the crossmembers.

Do you have a bare frame?

grizz what my current measurement is at the moment is 36" rear of the bed mounts. however using chassis specs from no limit it mentions 37 1/2" measured from the rear of the frame. if I use their reference i will have to modify their bracket as it interferes with the bed mount on the frame. i have no problem doing this, but i want my wheels centered in the well. I just wondering if anyone had any other number to help confuse me a bit more...since I have no other hands avail to help put the bed back on and see if my axle is actually centered in the wheel well, I hope someone has some experience with this...

Can you access the bottom of the bed? Is it upside down or right side up? Or is it elevated to where you can measure from the bed mount holes to the center of the wheel well opening? You can reference the mount holes on the frame and center the axle that way.

Recover quickly!

This site has every measurement you could want:

There should be a rubber bumper (or a mounting hole if the bumpers were removed) in the frame flange directly above the axle.

Grizz hope all goes well...

AX, thanks for the great reference. so based on that diagram and the measurement from no limit there is about a 3 1/2" difference on center line...

any ideas on which is closest to center? i would hate to screw up at this point and end up with my wheel pushed one way or the other in the wrong direction????

no front is a MII kit from no limit as well. I did follow their directions to move the CL of the cross member 1" if i remember correctly to center the wheel.

Does this have any reference to my rear CL?

Yes, it changes the wheel base by 1" also, In the direction the front axle moved of course.

that sounds simple enough... but in order to keep my wheels centered in the rear im still stuck with this small choice of where to put my CL. Has anyone else ran into this predicament?

Why would you want to put anywhere else? If you really want it somewhere else you could move the rear fenders forwards or back as well???

AX, i don't want to move it from the stock location, that is what im trying to figure out. do i use the center of the bump stop hole? or do i use the 37 1/2" measurement form no limit? Like i mentioned earlier there is a 3.5" difference between the two. I think the biggest problem I have is not being able to move the bed back in place in order to check and verify which measurement looks centered.
