radio static

after installing a Diablo chip.

Out on the highway most stations are fine, it's only a problem when I go into a parking deck or somewhere that weakens the signal.

For example

Strong stations: Just have a minor static, but you can still hear
the station

weak stations: have a sputtering static that overtakes the
station broadcast.

It's not engine noise, becuase the static doesn't change if you rev up the engin. It seems to be interference.

I was wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem and/or if anyone had an sugestions.

Could it just be a bad connection on the circuit board? I made sure the board was clean.

Could I be loosing performance because of this if it is a bad connection?

The chip seems to be working, I can tell the shift points changed and so forth.

Thanks for the help

Reroute the switch cable so its further from the radio and the wiring going from the radio to the antenna.

This will not impact performance.

Humm, I can look to see if the cable is touching the antenna wire under the dash some where which is possible since the antenna is on the same side of the truck as the computer. I ran the wire low across the front dash so it passes under the radio a good 6 inches at least. Due to the short length of the cable and the size of the truck, it's about impossible to run the switch to the drivers side of the truck without getting somewhat close to the radio though.

I do think your probably right on Ken and I'm betting that the cable is either touching or very close to the antenna wire somewhere under the dash right by the computer.

I'll check that out today.

Thanks

Also, you can take the cable and wrap a wiring around it from one end to the other with about 1/2 inch between each wrap. Then wrap another in the opposite direction.
