What are these?

Finally getting to put my flathead V8 together and as I sort through the gasket set I find these white pieces of rope packing. It has been three or four years since I tore this engine down and I don't remember seeing where these would go Anybody know what they are and where they go? They are about three inches long and a half inch in diameter.

I already have located the graphite rope packing for the front & rear seals.

Thanks for any help

kotzy is starting off with a positive reputation.
It's been a long time since I worked on a flat head, but it seems to me those ropes are the front crank seals. One half in the timing gear cover the other half in the nose of the pan. Hope this helps. kotzy
