blown 5 amp interior fuse for dash lights
Hello Everyone; First time user, first time poster.
I am the proud owner of a 1999 Ford F-150 4x4Pickup with a 4.6 Litre V-8.
I purchased this truck approximately 1 year earlier from a guy who assured me that there was nothing what so ever wrong with it.
My problem simply put is this, my Dash Lights keep blowing fuses and going dark and my wipers every once in a while will come on for just one rotation, sometimes with one rotation but every 3-4 seconds for 3-6 times.
I bought and installed a new light switch to no avail. Have not tore down the dash to check schematic issues simply because I would not know where to look, which is kind of where you guys come into play hopefully.
Can someone please lead in the right direction on where to look on the Schematic?
I have a Hanes manual for reference so I might be able to understand where to go if and when I get some help frome someone.
Thanks in advance for your help and I want to say that in spite of these problems I am very proud of this truck and just love it.
Have a great day
Terry.

Check for Battery saver relay and fuse #14, 15 amp. Also you have 2 fuses to power instrument panel and another fuse for the ground circuit from the instrument panel.

The wiper problem might be a faulty MFS, GEM module, or one of the components that control the wiper motor. It's going to require its own troubleshooting. I'd be suspicious of the MFS first.
The blown fuse (CJB F18) for the panel lights is going to be related to a short-to-ground in that particular circuit. Aftermarket radio wiring, if present, would be the first thing I'd look at followed by any other non-factory wiring in the panel illumination circuit. Otherwise, you'll have to trace down the circuit which goes multiple locations: Cluster, radio, HVAC control, steering wheel, 4X4 switch, ashtray light, and the switches on the front doors for windows and locks.

Thank You
Thanks for the information. It gives me something to do. Actually this makes a lot of sense as I did have a mechanic friend of mine help me with another electrical issue concerning the overdrive and he said that it looked like someone had tried to hook up a remote starter.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.
