Which "F" model more popular?

Hello all,

I am sure ND has the correct answer to this, but I am going to ask the question to all anyway. I was just wondering which model was the most popular, the F-100, F-150, F-250 or F-350? In their ads, Ford only states the F-series is the most popular on the planet, as does Wikipedia, but I would be interested in knowing which one outsold the others. I would think it would be the F-100, or F-150, but I know there are a lot of company F-250/350's out there.

If you're going to go by model number, I think the F150 would have to be the most by a wide margin.

Just watched a video where a Ford spokes person was talking.. he said there are 9 million F-Series owners right now, 6 million F150 and 3 million SuperDuty owners. He was talking in present tense and this conference was 2 years ago.

I'm no expert on this stuff, but it was pretty much a no-brainer that the F150 would outnumber all the other F-series. It is just a matter of longevity.

The F1 only ran a few years, approx 48-52. Then the F100 ran from 53 up to somewhere in the mid 70's. Not sure exactly, but it would be around 20 years. Then the F150 from ~75 to the present, would be over 35 years. And obviously the half ton sells more than the larger trucks, not to mention that more folks today can afford trucks than at any other time in history. I'm sure ND can correct me on those dates, which I know are not exactly correct.

A more interesting question might be what body style sold the best. Even that gets difficult to define. For example, some would include all the Super Duty from '99 to present as one body style, even though there have been minor updates. At least the cab is unchanged. Even the current F150 has not run as long, so the SD might have sold more.

One could define these things in a million different ways, I suppose.

Like Bill said, it could be defined a million ways.
Also, think about the Ford spokes person's wording. "3 million OWNERS."
Halliburton is one owner, but they have a TON of SuperDuties.

Well, since Ford states that F-150's out sell the other two models by 2 to 1, that is good enough for me. I was just curious which one sold the most. Now I know.
