What's the point of a flat, unobstructed floor if they are going to slap a big speaker box on it?
You have to get the Sony upgrade to get the sub. I have a 1 month old Lariat with the 6 disc changer, but did not come with a sub by default. I did not order the Sony upgrade specifically for that reason, I didn't want to the sub taking up the space on the floor.

Thanks for that info. It's good to know that, if I wind up getting a Lariat (curse Ford for dropping the 6 CD changer from the XLT!), I can get the 6 CD changer without that stupid subwoofer eating up floor space.

If I wanted an XLT and Ford didn't offer the sound systwm I wanted, I'd just go with an aftermarket sound system. It usually sounds better than what Ford offers for a lot less $ anyway.

Shopar,

20mpg on the hwy with those?? I think you need to read more about those before you jump into a new diesel.

It's not that uncommon anymore. The 6.7L is proving itself quite well. My dad has one and regularly sees 20+ on the highway, and 17+ around town with regular blend.

My 6.4L is averaging about 16+ on mixed city/rural driving. Last interstate I pulled 18.6. The devil is on the details. Run 72+ mph or 10+ psi boost, and your mileage will suffer. That's the biggest problem with the average EcoBoost driver... Most don't understand turbos and boost. Even being slightly into the throttle adding boost, but not much power to the drivetrain will suck fuel.

Understanding the inherent user issues(heavy foot), does the Ecoboost still make sense? It is the only way to get the HD package. I just have to relearn/adjust my driving habits, which might be a tall order. I'm coming from a MINI Cooper S! :0

I am surprised about those numbers. My 7.3 PSD can get over 20 mpg but that is driving 2 lanes, 50-55 mph and having a line of cars behind me. Not a normal driving style.

On hwy at 68 I can manage about 17 mpg with not load. About 10-11 pulling a Travel trailer. About 12 around town.

Am looking at the 5.0 as a better all round vehicle, without the $100 oil changes too.

You can get the HD payload pkg with the 5.0L and 3.73 LS diff.

But not the Max Tow, which makes no sense.

Since when does that matter to Ford. Ford's weight ratings are ludicrously inconsistent.

I show my build as having the trailer tow pkg, but having to add the brake controller. I am thinking the HD payload covers some of what is in the Max tow, except for the larger mirrors?

I found an interesting spreadsheet that calculates TV and TT weigths. I've loaded it with what I know about the truck and trailer I'm looking at, and some expected weights (people, topper, gear, etc).

This basically takes the TV payload to is max. I was surprised!

Here is the spreadsheet (google docs). If you want to make changes, you will need to download it.

Towing Capacity Worksheet https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B3Q...WHJObTFsOEFiQQ

Does this seem accurate/reasonable? If so, it looks like it points to a 3/4 ton TV.

I thought I saw somewhere that the the weight of a WDH basically adds back into the tongue weight. So, if you just factor in a 10-15% tongue weight and not add the hitch/equipment, you should have accurate numbers.

Sound correct?
