Tow Haul Mode and Tire Pressure

I have a 2015 F250. I was using Tow Haul mode on a down hill while pulling a 5th wheel. My tire pressure sensor came on. After I got to the bottom of the hill and the transmission wasn't slowing me down any more the tire pressure light turned off. Was there a heat build up that effected one of my tire causing a change in pressure in a tire??

If there was heat build up, that would increase the tire pressure. I believe your tire pressure monitor only checks for too low a pressure.

Have you checked your tire pressures to see if any of them is on the low side?

Not yet. The light went off and has not come back on for 3 days. I believe it had something to do with going down this hill with Tow Haul mode holding the engine in 3rd gear.

This. ^^^^^^^^. I think it's just a coincidence and would just check pressures to give peace of mind.

Adjusting TPMS.

I see lots of references to a special gizmo required to set the TPMS system with new/different tire pressures. I changed my tires from the recommended (door panel) 65/80 to 65 all the way around. For comfort, not loaded, not towing. My manual has a procedure to reset the TPMS without any added tools or electronics. 2013 F250 18” Michelin AT/2’s. Don’t all the manuals have that?

The gizmo (TPMS-19) isn't necessarily required, however, is an activation -and- relearn tool.
