Purchased an 09 F-150 Platinum

Well I went from a 97 F-250 Lariat, to a Toyota Venza (kids and gas mileage) and i felt as if my manhood was damaged!! Went yesterday and purchased a 2009 F-150 Platinum and so far I couldn't be happier, no more "man van"!! So my question is this, are there any known issues or thing to watch out for with these trucks? My 250 treated me great and I loved that truck, hope this does the same for years to come.

Congrats on your truck! Since the truck is pre-owned, we can hope that any quirkiness has been alleviated by the original owner. IIRC, aside from some complaints on transmission shifting, there hasn't been a whole lot of issues.

Oh, a couple things:

1) Leaking 3rd brake light
2) Leaking satellite antenna
3) Frame misalignment (rear axle offset to passenger side 1/2")
4) Rough transmission downshifting
5) Delaminating Platinum applique tailgate panel

But don't worry. Although these are some of the more oft reported problems, they aren't as prevalent as you may think. I haven't had a single problem with my 09 Plat brand new off the lot. And the delaminating issue appears to be due to extreme heat conditions (many were reported from Texas during their sizzling heat wave).

Congrats! Here's a couple of more common issues, I've had this so far on my 09 Platinum:

1. sagging headliner behind moonroof (cheap velcro comes loose)
2. leaking power steering hose (the pressure line that runs below the front of the engine)
3. power running boards making popping/creaking noises

Now my passenger running board is going up and down very slowly, I guess the motor is going bad. Thanks to a short work commute, I'm only at 17k miles, but my 3-year factory warranty expired last month. The day before it expired, I bought a Ford extended warrany for another 3 years. I decided there's too many high tech items on this truck that would be expensive to fix. Now I'm covered until the next F150 model comes out which I intend to buy.

Good feedback, they renewed the 3yr/36k bumper to bumper for me so I'm good for a while. I'll get some photos up soon, probably the weekend!
