The wifes reasoning is pretty simple, its a pretty decent chunk of change, and she wants me saving up to buy her something shiny...fml

My brother in law thinks that Ill only use it once maybe a couple of times, and it just wouldnt be worth it (I argued i would use it alot and that 1 time of its use would save buy itself back in the long run).

The best point he made was the killing blow for me purchasing this, and that was if I break one thing, ill never be able to find a part for it.

either that or you will be able to find the part but it will cost more than what you would have payed for the whole unit.

Yeah, a new gf. That would be good. But at this point, its more of an investment. With all the time, money, and energy i have put into training her/molding her into a good girl (doing the dishes, doing my laundry, other odds and ins ) there is no way i could turn back now. If this one doesnt work, i swear to god ill never look again hahaha.

IIRC a Ferret adapter was around $200 through a local auto parts store. Another thing to pursue when I get some coin ahead again.

I bought the Ferret adapter and it works pretty good. Little hard to get the timing light to pick up the signal, but once I got that figured out it works nice. Just like checking the timing on a gasser. Adjusting that timing is a lot more PITA on the IDI than a gasser though. I figure that tools are like an investment. As long as they are not broken, you can sell them later to get some or most of your money back and they really do pay for themselves compared with labor savings cost of hiring work done.
