opinions on tranny and coolant flush
I have a 01 f250 5.4 auto 4x4 with 232,000 miles. The truck was given to me by my stepdad who bought the truck brand new. The truck still runs great the tranny shifts fine and the engine runs at the same temp all of the time. I checked the trans fluid level yesterday and it was where it was supposed to be and it was red. But I did notice the coolant was a little dirty looking. Would you guys suggest flushing either of these? I love this truck and would like to get as many more miles out of it as I can. Ive heard if you flush a tranny with high miles that's never been flushed you will run into more problems soon as it may bring up old dirt and grime and you'll be rebuilding it soon. Is this true? Ive never heard any bad things about changing the coolant though. I don't tow anything or haul anything heavy. I just drive it to and from work everyday about 40 mikes round trip. Would love to hear your opinions. Thanks!

If your ATF is red, then ir must have been changed already with that high miles. I would go ahead and have both coolant and tranny flushed. While you're at it, you could also do both diff fluid, transfer case, brake fluid, and steering fluid. This way, you'll have a baseline.
Ask your stepdad what was done to the truck as far as maintenance. See if you need to change the plugs as well.
