Thanks. It says you want to know a little about me so...

My name is Jason, am happily married for 16yrs, have 3 kids, 2 of them drive, so I have a lot of projects going on with little time and less money to do them. I drive a pos 91 lesabre to work everyday, it was free and gets 25mpg.

My project if a 77 shortbox w/a 400m in it. I purchased it for $200, had to put a seat, seat belts and steering rag joint in it, about $60 worth of parts. I picked up a few pieces lately to get the 400 a little more peppy, but there is a 460 sitting in my shed that keeps screaming "install me". My plans are to replace the front suspension with either a crown vic or jaguar front, and then bag it. I really want to install some sort of overdrive also. It looks like most of you guys are 4x4 type, but I imagine you are open to different things.

Now my 16 year old son has a 92 mazda b2600 that we are trying to swap a 4.6 engine and trans from a 95 crown vic into. Getting that engine out has been the biggest pain I think I have ever dealt with. But once it's out the fun stuff will start.

My 15 year old has a 86 s10, plans are to build it into a prerunner style truck. Already have a set of front fenders, just need to get the rear and build a long travel front suspension for it(or at least longer).

Here is what I am starting with

Kind of what I am shooting for when done

Already pm'd jseim44 about doors. I have a good front bumper already. Really the body isn't as bad as it looks, the previous owner used house paint and a brush. The rear wheel arches are starting to rust, so I might put new bedsides on it. It's missing the tailgate and pretty much all the hardware. Gonna be a fairly slow progress, but my brother in law picked up a cam and timing chain set from a guy in Omaha for me yesterday, so when he comes back I will have most of what I need to get it running again. Anything major has to wait till the mazda is driving again, that is priority.

Another one of the guys here, Randy (fordnut forever) can probably help you out with stuff also. I had to come back on at home to see your pics (can't see them at work), man that red and white truck is wild looking! You'll find most of us pretty open to all things Ford around here!

We have a scrap yard here that always has lots of dents in it, they usually aren't in very good shape but you can find parts here and there. But they are more a scrap yard so things don't stay around for long. He does know what he has though so he saves the good stuff. There is a 78-79 4x4 with a hp 60 front(I'm pretty sure, can't get under it to good to see). I need to go out there and get a grill off of one for mine. That's where I got a good set of doors 8 or 9 years ago, but sold them a couple years later.

The truck isn't running right now, the carb got junk in it and when I pulled it off to kit it there were several bolts busted off, so it went in the trash. I got an intake and carb at the swap meet and I got a couple of cams and a timing chain from a craigslist deal. Now just to find a set of closed chamber heads.

Right there, I should have time today, I will try to remember to go double check and see what he wants for it. Do you just want the axle or more? I was going to stop and check on some stuff for myself anyway.

Just stopped by, it is indeed a hp 60. But it is spoken for, I guess there is some guy that buys up all his good axles, rebuilds them and then sells them. He did say that if you were interested he could let you have the next one he gets, but it would be for around $1200. He says the other guy gives him $1000, so I think I could maybe get him to sell me one for that price. He said he doesn't want to step on the guys toes cause he buys a ton of axles from him. There was a stack about 20 high of different axles waiting for the guy to pickup.

That situation kinda frustrates me, this guy is basically inflating the price of the axles plus limiting the supply. I imagine this isn't the only scrap yard he has setup this way. I would rather buy a part and rebuild it myself then pay some guy that is trying to turn a profit while covering overhead. I don't know I can't fault either guy for trying to make money but it is still frustrating.

He also mentioned something about some dana 80's he had? I know he has some 2.5 ton rockwells, and some other incredibly large stuff.

I am going to get a passenger door for my truck for $20. But someone drove past the front of the truck that had the good grill and screwed it all up.

I want one to cut up and see if something in my head will work in the "real" world. So what he has should still be fine, it was just disappointing to see a really nice grill killed off.

I'm sure he would. 2 or 4 wheel drive? I will check out your thread. I am planning on going out there tomorrow to pull some parts so I will see what I can do for you.

I am half tempted to see what kind of deal I could work out with him to just purchase all the pre 79 ford trucks from him and keep them available for people. I think I could find a place to keep them all stored.
