So what did you do to your 6.0L today?
How do you know?
by the way it's shaped and that the stock alternators keep burning up. The regulators just cook themselves... why the Neece-Leville 230 amp units last forever, two internal fans and welded regulators.
Put your hand by the alternator and feel the air flow, then remove the fin and test again. Test it with a laser temp gauge, you can see the difference.

Also failed to mention a great accomplishment.
Before leaving for Sunny Florida last week, I ran by PSE and Dorian confirmed that injectors 2, 4, and 7 were having issues. To that end, I picked up some Schaeffers 9000, some Hot Shot Secret from Autozone (also kept my receipt), and RevX distance plus for the fuel side.
I changed the oil and headed to Florida with the cruise set at 75 mph for 791 miles. Things got noticeably better the closer I got to Florida. It idled, accelerated, and just ran that much better when I reached my destination.
The truck then sat for a week while I enjoyed the sun.
Upon leaving, the injectors fired up very crisply and ran ever so smooth. I filled up from the journey there and averaged 17.5 mpg. The journey home from Dothan, Alabama was 804 miles and I drove straight through the night at 75 mph home, that tank was 19.1 mpg and all time high!
This was with:
Stock FICM- ARZ2AL10
KEM Race tune
3.5 inch exhaust to 4 inch
Stock intake
Very impressed and happy with my truck again!

Have been feeling something in the rear end this past month. Mainly on turns. So, I stopped into a Ford dealer and picked up a bottle of the XL-3 friction modifier. Added it this morning and went for a NASCAR garage tour. I tried to get that feel again when turning and it seems to have resolved the issue. I'll know better when we hook back up to the 5th wheel Thursday when we head out.

I have a question how do you know if the rear end needs the friction modifier. My axle code says 3L does that means limited slip?
Went to get the tires rotated today. Got that done and while I was there I had
then check the steering. I don't want to condemn the steering box without verifying
that it is indeed the problem. Well I have a bad track bar bushing and ball joint along
with a bad drag link ball joint. So far all they could see with the steering box was a
tiny bit of weep of oil but not enough to even make a drip.
That track bar is just about 60,000 miles old. I was told that if it's not torqued correctly
that can make it fail early. Ed is sending me a price list for the parts.
And I thought I had it paid off. So much for that idea.

That is what Ed said for the track bad ball joint.
I posted a PDF some time ago for the correct way to adjust the steering box.
I can repost it tonight for you.
I found the one I posted for the 2006 year but not the 2005 year.
I will get that one tonight because I am not sure if there is any
changes between the years.

Yes, you have limited slip which needs the friction modifier. Some brands come with it already in the lube. Like mobile and royal purple. I had used Valvoline gear lube that said it had it in it. But, I don't recall if the Ford dealer changed it out when I had the seal go out in it a year or so later.

Didn't you just do those ball joints? How many miles on them?
I used Mobil and still had to add 1/2 a bottle from Ford. Every time I was
going around a corner I would get that pop (or what ever you want to call it)
Once the 1/2 bottle was in I took it for a drive and did some figure eights and
the problem was solved.
One word of cation with the friction modifier. It STINKS so don't spill it on any
thing you like or it will smell for quite a while.
Noe whit I did with my truck other than the visit to the tire shop for rotation and
steering investigating.
I backed the truck into the driveway and used the tail gate as a work bench to
get the edger up so I could put it back together. It's always nicer to work at a
good level with a chair to sit on when the back starts to let you know it time.
Now I have an edger instead of a pile of parts.
I am not looking forward to the track bar job. That may be one I let the shop do.
I will also need to start to save for a new set of tires. They looked at the tires and
said I am down to about 40%. So it's time.
