Well I forgot to say that I got down at the auto body shop.
Bent bumper, damaged hitch and looks like the hitch hit the
spare tire. So maybe a tire also. Also with the bumper comes
the pads 2 of the 3 are also scratched. Oh what fun.

Installed new axle seal, wheel bearing and 2 new front calipers. Bled the brakes...went to go drive..pedal just goes right to the floor.

Does it matter if you bleed the brakes with the truck off of on?

New pads or old pads?
Even with new pads and rotors the pistons need to extend out
of the caliper. You may get a few to the floor peddles until you
have the pistons set to the right location. When I did my rears
with new pads, rotors and I had compressed the pistons back into
the calipers it took a few pumps to get the peddle back to normal.

It seemed to help some to have the engine running to give me power
to push the fluid out.

Shouldn't matter if its on or off. I bled my brakes with the truck off.

Bleeding with it off is right.

It's the refilling of the piston bore that takes
more fluid and it can be a bit easier with the
engine running. Don't forget that you are moving
a lot of fluid to do that and if one set is already full
then your also working against that pressure to move
the peddle.

Sounds good guys thanks. I pumped the pedal like 20 timed when I started my truck and tried to drive and it didn't get any better. The brakes didn't even hold the truck when I shifted into reverse

just to clarify, but you did have someone working the pedal for you while you bled the new calipers right?
i would retry with the truck running to get some power behind the fluid.

Or he needs to get some Russell speed bleeders so he can do it quick and easy by himself. Best $20 I ever spent on a vehicle.
