i for some reason decided to use 15-40 rotella cause they were all out of valvoline. my truck has never liked 5-40 rotella...well it definitely doesnt like 15-40. idling rough..when hot...and i can feel it skipping and pulsating pretty bad when its lugging. also when hot. ugh...

Have you use the T6? It's 5-40
Shell Rotella® Products - Shell Rotella
Might get a happier truck out of it..

Now on to the what did I do part.
Cleaned,Watered and gave the batteries a juice snack while out.
Little low on water I must say and one did not make me happy
when looking down into the plates. I still have the better looking
one of the two to finish the toping charge on.

I picked up 4ea on gallon T6 at Autozone. They are on sale. That brings
then down to the same price as Wally World. I'll go to Autozone first when I can.

So what did you do to your 6.0L today?

Picked up new alternator, got the harness undone down to the starter (still attached to it) started raining again.

Don't forget to put a new o rings and a copper washer on, or you'll be doing it again soon.

Ask me how I know...

he was just asking how i cleaned all the carbon off off the tip... i did the seals after polishing and cleaning the tips.. kept seeing so many videos of people doing that before cleaning the tips didnt make sense to me.. cuz if they werent careful they would be sanding on the new copper washer...

ive got to wonder if you dont have an issue with stitchin that hides when your running the 5w-40... because 15w-40 is what the 6.0's call for in the owners book.. should be running fine with it.. might need to pull the coils off the injectors and polish the spool valve in there.. wouldnt be surprised if they didnt have a layer of varnish on them thats causing it to stick and run rough..

if you do pull them make sure you keep everything oriented the way it came off the injector or your truck really wont run correctly.. might not even start...

oh i definitely have a stiction issue. with 15-40 valvoline i had some stiction until about 170* oil temp then it ran fine. even starts just fine cold. but with the rotella 15-40...its awful. my truck has never ran this poorly. and it literally started as soon as i drained the 5500 mile valvoline and put this crap in

Had a great call with Ed yesterday, ordered the 270 XP DC Power alt from him. IDK if it really matters, but my alt went from holding a decent mid ~13.4 volts pretty constantly to not even breaking 13V about two weeks after the plow fan clutch came out and cut FSS in half, not sure if reduced airflow and higher ambient temps are what really pulled the noose tight on this one. Not a huge deal because it was expected, we lost a 110A OEM alt around 60k in the other truck, the 140A OEM in mine made it to 95k and will soon be sent out to a shop to tear it open and see if anything is obviously wrong with it. Batteries charged up to 12.6V float voltage and tested >750 CCA each, so hopefully these MC batteries won't die quite yet.

did make an unexpectant discovery today.. had to pull the AC box back apart today so i could get to the passenger side of the engine...

was in the box looking for the parts to put the fuel lines back on and discovered those sitting in the bottom still... pretty sure theyre important to making the engine go lol.. also couldnt get the glow plug harness on yesterday either... good thing i couldnt lol...

Looks like my EOT sensor is reading almost 3 degrees warmer than the IAT2, TFT, and ECT after a long cold soak.

The EX is taking the Boy Scout trailer and boys to camp tomorrow.
