like GenMan said theyre little over priced.. but you wont have to worry about rounding off the edges when you go to remove them... and some of them give you a nice port to plug gauges into as well

Snug. The o-rings are the seal.

just snug for me.. but its not so much me i worry about.. its more the dealer weinies that touch em.. if you dont use the proper wrench or socket they easily round off.. not all the plastic caps were made equal either.. even with what was supposed to be the proper socket and wrench for the ones on mine there was a bit of play between the cap and tools.. eventually im going to have to replace the upper fuel one.. looked like someone took a pair of pliers to it in the past.. pretty marred up.. socket still fits it.. but looking yucky..

That's what I always went by. As soon as I see the cap touch the housing I give it one more little turn then it's good

ive used that spot a couple times as well... downside is ive seen on other boards a lot of people complaining about how easy it is to round that part of the cap out too.. Most of the ones complaining were saying not to use anything but a socket... hard to know who to believe anymore.. lower filter everyone seems to say wrench.. upper ones sockets.. but always had a problem with wrenches for the lower ones.. but could get a socket there.. and the upper ones i could use wrenches or sockets on.. or just the ratchet

I use an oil filter strap wrench for the frame filter and 24/36 socket for the uppers

I use a shallow 36mm 3/8" and ratchet on the frame and the oil filter, and 1/2" drive on the fuel filter.

Socket for both got the one on Ebay for about $9.00 and the
other one is an impact socket I had sitting around. I keep them
together with a short extension stuffed through the one into the
other one. That way they stay stacked together. As far as torque
goes I just make them good and snug. They seem to get a little
tighter over time even with oil on the new O-ring at installation.
With the O-ring doing the seal work you only need then tight enough
so that they won't back out is all.

I guess I'm the odd duck. I go by the torque spec on the cap but then i have a NM torque wrench in the box. I tried to remove the engine cap one with the 1/2" spot hard Crack never tried that again.

As for what i did to it today I got a free bedliner to cover the PO abuse of the bed.

i think id personally be leery of using the oil filter strap wrenches on that cap.. would be afraid of it crushing and/or breaking the cap like it does to the filters i try taking off with them.

biggest thing i hate with the frame filter is the forward driveshaft gets in the way a lot.. even when im just trying to open the water drain port..
