If you're looking at Gen 1's the closer you stay to the 2005 model the better. All of them are 4.0L SOHC V-6's, most are 5R55E automatics.
If you're looking at Gen 2's then they were offered with the 4.6L SOHC V-8 as well as the 4.0L SOHC V-6. Opinion is that the V-8 gets at least as good MPG's as the V-6.

Thank you, I've been doing some research online but i can't open most of the website's due to me being in Afghanistan. I'm really just curious about Pro's and Con's between different model's, year's, and trim's...

Be safe there brother!

Your intended purpose will also dictate which "Generation" is best suited. The Gen 1's have a "normal" 8.8' rear end and torsion bar front end. They off-road more easily. The Gen 2's are IRS and suspension mods are difficult.

Try out Sport Trac specific forums like the Serious Explorations Sport Trac forum or

Thanks again, That's good info! As for the purpose of the truck, it's mainly going to be used by my wife to use with our kid's. I have my "toy's" so doing MOD's to a Sport Trac isn't something im concerned about. Again i really appreciate your help!
