Crate Motors

After a google search I'm surprised at how hard it is to find a ford 302 in the 300hp range.
16-18mpg is what a stock F150 gets with some going a bit higher. Depends on how the truck is setup. A 2wd reg cab short box with tall gears and overdrive could probably get 16 with a 300hp crate engine. a supercab longbox 4x4 with a C6 and 3.73:1 gears probably won't. And if you're putting bigger tires on it then almost certainly not.

i got a 89 ext cab short bed with the stock gears in it and 31's and the aod trans, and if i put gt 40 heads on my stock motor that will increase my compression right? will i have to replace any lifters or anything like that. because the last time i replaced a head on a chevy, the new head increased the compression and ended up throwing a rod.
or can you put a 302 HO out of a mustang in a f150 without changing the computer?
